UAV Solutions, Inc. (UAVS) announced today that it delivered four Phoenix 30 Quad Rotor Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in response to a contract award from the Department of the Army for Romania under a Foreign Military Sale (FMS).
The vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) Phoenix UAS is an electric powered system weighing approximately 14 lbs. carrying a maximum two-pound payload. The UAS requires no assembly and takes only a few minutes to deploy. Endurance is 30 to 35 minutes depending on mission profile. The UAS can fly in winds up to 25 knot gusts in up to an-inch-an-hour of rain. Maximum speed is 24 knots and cruise speed is 15.5 knots. Typical operating altitudes are 50-500 ft. AGL with a MSL up to 10,000 ft.
The system was sold with the UAVS Dragon View combined electro-optical / infrared (EO/IR) stabilized camera sensor, a ground control system, applicable spares and ground support equipment.
In addition to the quad rotors, UAVS also offers hexacopter UAS and a line of fixed wing aircraft including the electric Talon 120LE and the gas powered Talon 240-G. The company recently introduced the Phoenix ACE LE. The back packable quadcopter comes in a case with a combined 640×512 FLIR IR and EO Pinhole camera and a joystick for operation. Under 4.4 lbs., the system flies for 60 minutes.
