UAV Solutions, Inc. Flies Phoenix ACE LE using 4G LTE

JESSUP, MD – MAY 2, 2016 – UAV Solutions, Inc. (UAVS) announced today that the company has operated its Phoenix ACE LE unmanned aircraft system (UAS) utilizing a 4G LTE network for beyond line of sight (BLOS) capability.

The Phoenix ACE LE is a small multi rotor capable of flying for more than one hour. The system comes in a backpack and includes all that is required to be flight ready: a charging station, Windows tablet and joystick, Mission Planner software, batteries and a camera sensor. Sensor options include a combined electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR), multispectral,  10x zoom day and an action camera.

Utilizing a standard data plan, a modified set of avionics and a 4G LTE modem in the air vehicle, UAVS was able to fly from a distance of more than 60 miles. An operator can remotely operate the UAS BLOS with any internet connection including a 4G LTE hotspot, anywhere in the 4G LTE network. During the flights, the operator had full control of the air vehicle as well as autonomous mission planning. Users were able to view full motion live video as well as operate the on board camera. During our first demonstration, the operator flew four fifty-minute flights.

“Applying 4G LTE technology for the flight of unmanned systems allows the proficient user to operate from anywhere on the globe with the assistance of a technician on the ground and a cellular network,” stated Bill Davidson, chief executive officer and chief engineer. “Future possibilities for this technology include remote unmanned inspection stations.”

UAV Solutions, Inc. Files UAS in RAPS II Flight Demonstration

DHS to assess SUAS for border security and law enforcement communities

JESSUP, MD – April 12, 2016 – UAV Solutions, Inc. announced that two of its small unmanned aircraft systems (SUAS) participated in flight demonstrations as a part of the Robotic Aircraft for Public Safety (RAPS) Phase II project sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T). The RAPS project was launched to assess the extent to which SUAS can enhance situational awareness in support of border security and law enforcement operations.

During the week-long event beginning February 21, 2016, held at the Ft. Sill Army Post near Lawton, Okla., UAV Solutions demonstrated the capabilities of two SUAS: the Talon 120LE Fixed Wing UAS and the Phoenix 30 vertical take-off and land (VTOL) Quad Rotor UAS.

The Talon 120LE is a rugged man-portable UAS made of 7075 aircraft grade aluminum, foam and composite materials. With an endurance of greater than two hours, its modular nose payload section can house the UAVS Dragon View combined electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) camera sensor or experimental payloads up to 2.5 lbs. Weighing 20 lbs. at take-off, this SUAS can be hand launched.

“We are developing low cost solutions that meet the needs of border security operators and law enforcement for scenarios where persistent surveillance is required,” stated Bill Davidson, chief executive officer and chief engineer. “All our aircraft platforms can be quickly deployed for instant situational awareness.”

The RAPS team is studying fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft having gross takeoff weights of 25 lbs. or less using key performance measures in a variety of stimulated but realistic, real-world operational scenarios that focus on the use of SUAS technology in response to situations where human lives are in imminent danger. DHS S&T developed a test plan for participants to follow and sample scenarios include emergency response, beacon response, injured operator/search and rescue and border surveillance.

UAV Solutions, Inc. Announces New Fixed Wing Unmanned Systems

On display at AUVSI Booths #1109 and #2303 in Atlanta

JESSUP, MD – April 27, 2015 – UAV Solutions, Inc. (UAVS) announced today that it will display a number of new fixed wing unmanned systems at the annual Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Unmanned Systems 2015 event to be held May 4-7, 2015, in Atlanta, Ga.

In booth #1109 the company will introduce the Phoenix FW120, a lightweight hand-launched air vehicle and the Jet UAV, a high altitude, multi fuel, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) asset. The Intruder UAS, a multiple intelligence gathering platform with a gross take-off weight of 850 lbs., will occupy booth #2303.

With a wingspan of 12.5 ft., the Phoenix FW120 is a 16 lb. electric air vehicle that flies for nearly 2.5 hours. This affordable system was created with a design-for-manufacturing philosophy with open architecture software and hardware components that provide customers with future flexibility. Ideal for inspecting crops, surveilling power lines or conducting search and rescue missions, the Phoenix FW120 has a payload capacity of 2.5 lbs.

The jet powered Jet UAV UAS flies at high altitudes and operates in a low vibration environment ideal for ISR payloads. With more capability than a standard two-stroke piston engine, the Jet UAV can use various heavy fuels including diesel, kerosene and Jet A. The Jet UAV has a wingspan of 16 ft. and a payload capacity of 10 lbs.

In booth #2303, UAVS will feature the new Intruder, a multiple intelligence gathering platform capable of operating at higher density altitudes. This versatile system is able to collect information via satellite communication, signals intelligence, communications intelligence and imagery intelligence. The tractor engine provides the aircraft with greater propulsion efficiency and noise reduction. The Intruder has retractable landing gear and the agnostic, center-of-gravity mounted payload location accommodates from 75 to 100 lbs.

In addition to the UAS highlighted above, UAVS also will feature its multi rotor unmanned systems – Phoenix 60, Phoenix 30 and Phoenix 15 – at the show as well as the Dragon View camera sensor.

Dragon View sensors can be integrated onto unmanned vehicles, antenna towers, to buildings or to other structures to provide day and thermal imagery, video recordings, object tracking and geolocation data. The sensors are lightweight, mechanically and digitally stabilized gimbals with electro-optical and infrared cameras. Buyers will have the option to customize lens size and resolution. Prices for these sensors start at $13,179.

Weighing approximately 1.4 lbs., the sensors can easily be mounted on UAV Solutions unmanned vehicles (or vehicles developed by other manufacturers), on antenna towers and to other structures to provide “additional eyes” for police organizations. Operating at 10.6 watts, the low power draw enables more efficient use of the battery system providing longer duration.
